Why Another Blog? 'Cause Why The F$#K Not, That's Why. :-P

Starting something is never easy, at least for me. I tend to be a bit scatterbrained, lack solid organizational skills, run hot and cold with ADD and dyslexia, and honestly would rather be doing something else most of the time than whatever it is I am doing currently, but over the past few months I have done a few things that have helped reel in my focus and provided to me a spark that seems to, at this time, keep on burning.

Near the middle of 2021, inspired by so many of the creatives I have grown to know over the past couple years online, I decided to start a YouTube channel for shits and giggles that would highlight Tabletop RPGs, primarily unboxing those I have received from Kickstarters or purchases made independently for my library and a small opinion about them as I paged through them. Like so many ventures as such, it has grown somewhat since then and even though the subs are relatively small, it has garnered many views. Best of all, it has brought some extra focus and attention towards creators and their works that I enjoy and appreciate.

Soon thereafter some ramblings in a weekly gaming zoom chat brought about the inception of doing a podcast with my friend Keith Mageau from Rolling Boxcars (www.rollingboxcars.com). We essentially decided to go with a freeform podcast format focusing on all things TTRPGs and to carry a positive demeanor and influence within the hobby. Thus, Titterpigs: The TTRPG podcast was born!

It's been a bit of whirlwind due to both of these ongoing projects and with them a new set of issues and concerns but also came new skills and talents. Everything I am doing is self taught and my methods may not be the best way of doing it, be it audio or sound editing or whatever, but I am finding I enjoy it even though it can be a slog at times. For me what I find most enjoyable is sharing these finished products with everyone and witnessing the positivity that has been created by them first hand. I really enjoy engaging with a creator whose game had sa pike in purchases due to some kind words on a video or interacting with those who want to engage more on topic discussed on the podcast. It helps keep me grounded and focused and allows that creative spark to continue. Which leads me to this blog...

I have no idea where I may go with this blog. I don't consider myself a writer, I am sure there are tons of grammatical errors that I have missed on here, I am long winded in both my words and my speech, and I tend to write in an odd conversational prose/stream of consciousness. What I am sure about though is it will primarily be about role playing games and other odd pop culture bits but it could be more, who knows. It may be nothing at all except the ramblings of 48 year old fan boy posting into the ether, but in the end, who cares. I am doing this for me, for shit's and giggles, just like the podcast and the YouTube channel and ultimately what's important to me is that I have taken another step out of my comfort zone and because of this, will hopefully continue to take more.

An enthusiastic Cheers! and resounding Huzzah! to One and All,

Scott a.k.a Orcusdorkus.
